Painting with Light

Another beautiful Barb stallion from Morocco this morning. This image makes me think of painting with light. I did quite a bit of work on this picture but I so love the process when I can paint with light and make visible what is catching my eye and let disappear what is distracting. I love when I think: do I need the dust and the feet? or does it take away from the image? Is it adding, just because I actually got the feet and the dust in the moment into the frame and I did a bunch of work on just that part…. No! Crop in tighter then. Just sharing some of the thoughts that I have when I process pictures and am in my creative playful moment being with the horse, with his spirit, his essence, his motion and expression. To me that is the art. Everyone can take a camera and take a picture of a horse, right? But to make it something that is special to you, that you like and are happy with when you put your watermark on and you don’t really care what anyone else thinks. You are not selling your soul to please anyone but you and the horse :). Loving life!!!!

About Claudia Mardel

I love beauty in it's wondrous forms and aspects. Capturing moments that speak to the heart and soul, capturing a face, a movement, light, the magic of a relationship, and esp. the horses with their own magic, grace and beauty. I have done many different things in my life from being an elementary school teacher, a massage therapist, a barefoot trimmer, a world traveler, a diver, sailor, lover of horses and all animals to a photographer and potter. I am a Free Spirit with a big heart and don't quite fit in a box. My intention is for you to catch that free spirit through the images I present to you and the earth creations in form of pottery I have filled with love, intentions and prayers.
